The unification fight between WBC female superwelter champ Mikaela Lauren (24-3) and WBO title holder Hanna Gabriel (14-1-1) that was set for June 6 in Stockholm is off after the organizations involved failed to reach an agreement on officials. It´s claimed over here that it was the WBO that caused all the problems and finally withdrew sanctioning of the fight and reportedly also forced Gabriel to pull out.

A frantic search for opponent began this past weekend and finally Victoria Cisneros (11-17-2) accepted the fight and has been approved by the WBC as well. This saved the show for Lauren, who doubles as promoter.

Frenchman Hadillah Mohoumadi (19-3-1) won the vacant EBU supermiddle title with when co-challenger Mariano Hilario (12-3) was stopped in the eighth round in what was the headliner on this Rimer Box promotion in Fuenlabrada May 28.

Mohoumadi (pictured) dominated the fight and had Hilario on the floor late in the third and the Spaniard was hurt again in the fifth.

Mohoumadi vs Hilario have a long history by now and was first set for December 20 last year in France but was postponed and even cancelled around four times since then before Rimer Box, second best in the purse bids twice, finally was able to get the fight on.

Former WBA superbantam champion Loris Stecca, 54, has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison for attempted murder. Stecca stabbed his business partner Roberta Cester late 2013 at a gym they operated in Rimini (Italy). Cester survived but was seriously injured.

Stecca was a good amateur, turned pro in 1980 and won the WBA title in 1984 (the same year as his brother Maurizio won Olympic gold in Los Angeles) but lost the title in his first defence - and as it was the sole two loses in Loris' career came to Victor Callejas. A serious car accident ended his career in 1989. His total record reads 55-2-2 and he also held the EBU and Italian titles.

Loris Stecca made headlines again in 2008 after a suicide attempt.

EuroProm, headed by Gerard Teysseron, promotes a show in Pont-Audemer with two French title fights on top of the bill. Heavyweight champ Cyril Leonet (8-8-2) defends the title against Fabrice Aurieng (10-6) and at welter Maxime Beaussire (18-0-1) take on Steven Bloyer (16-14) for the vacant crown.

As part of the show the local sports stadium will be renamed in memory of the late former Olympian Alex Vastine, who passed away in a plane accident earlier this year.
