In a WBC eliminator

Spanish superfeather Juli Giner (18-1-1) take on Mexican Miguel Roman (54-11) in a WBC eliminator for the position of mandatory challenger to the WBC title currently held by Francisco Vargas. Giner is ranked # 2 with Romero at # 3 in the WBC ratings.

After intense negotiations over the last few weeks the parties reached a deal last night and the fight goes ahead April 1 in Barcelona on a show promoted by Gallego Prada. As been previously reported Giner was all set to defend the EBU title on this date against Frenchman Guillaume Frenois but have now relinquished the title for what is the biggest fight of his career..

Frenois (40-1) will now face compatriot Sami Ziani (21-2-1) for the vacant title with date and site to be announced.
