For the first time since 1980

Professional boxing returns to Noway October 1 for the first time since October 1, 1980, and this time with WBA, WBO, WBC and IBF female welter champ Cecilia Braekhus (28-0) headlining against an opponent to be announced.

Norway had a law that prohibited professional boxing in effect from 1981 to 2014. However, even when the law was thrown out there´s been a lot of problems due to another legislation that among other things complicates doping tests. It's a fact that Braekhus must have an opponent announced and ready for extensive doping tests by August 6 and for a long time after the fight this opponent must be available for more tests.

The show at the Spectrum in Oslo is billed as "Arctic Rumble" and will feature four fights with Braekhus the only name confirmed for now and the show is promoted by Braekhus' First Lady Promotion.

The October 1, 1980, was topped by lightweight John Baker Muwanga, who knocked out American Jerry Graham. On the undercard feature EBU heavyweight champ Steffen Tangstad turned pro but then moved to US and settled in Chicago. Ad for Muwanga he fought twice more and retired with an record of 14-0 and entered a career as a social worker.
