Luca Giacon winner in his comecak fight

Thursday July 21, Former WBC Silver super lightweight champion Luca Giacon knocked out Gergo Vari in four rounds at Principe theater in Milan (Italy) in his comeback fight after 16 months of inactivity. Giacon’s last fight was on March 21, 2015 at the same location.

After that, Giacon had to deal with a detached retina, but now he is back in full force. After becoming WBC Silver champion Giacon also became number 1 in WBC rankings. His record now moves to 28 wins (24 inside the distance), 1 loss and 1 no-contest. Also at Principe theater, Miami Beach based super middleweight Daniele Scardina made his Italian debut demolishing in three assaults Christian Bozzoni. Born and raised in Rozzano (close to Milan), Scardina wanted badly to fight in Italy, after 4 fights in Dominican Republic and the fifth in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, USA). "I train at the World Famous 5th Street Gym in Miami Beach – Scardina said – and they got me the fights in Dominican Republic. Then I got a chance in the U.S. and I grabbed it, but I also wanted to please my fans in Italy. They saw me fight as an amateur, becoming Lombardia region champion, wearing the national team jersey. I knew they would support me as a professional too. I want to follow Canelo Alvarez’s steps: he fights in the U.S. but keeps the flame alive with his Mexican fans." Scardina’s record is now 6-0 with 6 knock outs.

Principe theather is the same location where Paulie Malignaggi fought on September 2015 and it was sold-out again. Promoter Alessandro Cherchi was enthusiast: "We didn’t just fill all the seats, there were a lot of people standing up at the floor level and the balcony was full as usual. Milanesi understood the quality of our work and keep buying tickets. After 13teen shows in less than 2 years, I can say that I accomplished my goal: Principe theater has become Milan’s version of Manhattan’s BB King Blues Club and Grill. I always had that comparision in mind because the capacity is the same: 550 people."
