Oliver Mollenberg, 63,5, Gilleleje, Den D10-S Jaouad "Le bombardier Marocain" Belmehdi, 63,1, Fra
Excellent fight for the vacant WBO Youth title but also too much too soon for the young (18-years old) Dane while the less talented but more mature "Le Bombardier Marocain" handled the distance better. Mollenberg showed good handspeed as he outboxed Belmehdi in the early rounds but in the third the Frenchman began to score with hard left hooks to the head and Mollenberg´s defence began to leak and as he tired he took more and more punches but showed true grit and fighting spirit in fighting back. Belmehdi poured it on and in the tenth he broke through and had Mollenberg under pressure. It was scored an out of line 97-93 for Mollenberg and 95-95 twice. I had it 96-94 Belmehdi. A rematch? Yes please but why not give Möllenberg some time to grow up and develop his skills?
Patrick Nielsen, 77,4, Den W8-U Armen Ypremyan, 77,0, Fra
80-72, 79-73 twice - which means that Nielsen´s skills as a wrestler was awarded by the judges. Nielsen was in shape for his comeback but his timing seemed way off and he was unable to keep his stocky technically limited opponent away and it became a messy, foul-filled fight. Nielsen was cut twice ove the right eye after headclashes and Ypremyan had a bad swelling around his right eye and his cornerman had no ice or enswell to treat the injury with.
Ashley Theopane, 71,7, Uk W10-U Kassim "the Dream" Ouma, 71,0, Uga/Amsterdam (?), Nth
100-91, 98-92 and 99-91 - much too wide if you ask me. Theopane fought a tactical, safety first kind of fight and built an early lead while Ouma, fighting in his gymshoes, fought as if he didn´t care and his timing looked way off. But once warmed up he upped the pace and for my money he was winning the middle rounds and in the ninth he forced Theopane to fight back - but then the lights went out. After a long time-out the action resumed and Theopane danced away. Ouma, way past his best, was a sub for Kim Poulsen. Theopane? A faded force as well.
Jamshid Nazari, 63,2, Nor W6-U Oszkar Fiko, 62,9, Hun
57-55, 58-54 and 56-56. Fiko had points deductions for careless use of his head in both the fourth and fith and that blew the fight for him. Fiko outworked the strangely lethargic Norwegian and landed the best punches in a messy clinch-filled fight.
Jacob Porsgaard, 72,6, Den W4-U Niko Gvajava, 71,8, Geo
40-36 twice and 39-37. Gvajava was too small and was outboxed but came on a bit in the fourth where Porsgaard was cut by the right eye.
4x3: Oliver Zaren, 79,6, Den TKO 2 (1.03) Attila Orsos, 79,9, Hun
Orsos did better as a cornerman for Fiko than as fighter where he looked soft and inept, went down twice in the first and again in the second and it was stopped.
