Masternak was beating Billam-Smith to the punch time and time again - but Billam-Smith kept coming and went for the body and late in the 7th it was obvious that something had happened to the Pole, who retired in his corner with a suspected broken ring. He was ahead on the two cards by 68-65 twice with an out of line 67-67 on the thjird card. Billam-Smith thus retained the WBO title.
