Guerrero moves up two weight divisions, captures WBC interim welter title

Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero who has in the past called out Fighter of the Decade Manny Pacquiao moved up two divisions to welterweight and captured the vacant WBCInterim title with a unanimous decision over previously undefeated Selcuk “Mini Tyson” Aydin at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

Guerrero, a former three-division world champion used his speed to advantage against the Turkish fighter and was far more aggressive before a cheering hometown crowd.

While the win was impressive Guerrero hardly displayed any recognizable punching power at 147 pounds while Aydin was clearly the stronger puncher and caight Guerrero with some solid blows in the later rounds.

However, Aydin’s effort was too little too late and all three judges had Guerrero who now moves up to 29-1-1 with 18 knockouts, a comfortable winner.

Max DeLuca and Mark Green scored the fight for Guerrero 116-112 while Michael Tate had Guerrero the winner 117-111.

Confesor Hernandez beat Pajaro Diaz in a good fight

Former WBC flyweight world champion Adrian "Confesor" Hernandez, won by unanimous decision in 10 rounds to Ivan "Pajaro" Diaz last Friday night.

The commissioner reported that Hector Vilchis Hernandez Diaz was very brave, but he got tired something that "Confessor" with more experience took advantage of and hit him hard. The fight was on flyweight.

Beltran beat Lundy

Mexican lightweight Raymundo “Sugar” Beltran beat by decision to Henry “Hank” Lundy during the main event of the card promoted at the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.

Beltran, who won the NABF title in the lightweight division, won on two scorecards 96-94 and 96-94, while a third managed a 95-95 tie to poach victory.

Beltran submitted Lundy strongly in the third round, putting him in bad condition, but eventually recovered and both ended up throwing hard combinations. Beltran was always ahead in the fight, stood his ground and the pressure imposed gave him very good results.

With this victory, Beltran improved his record to 26-6 with 17 knockouts, while Lundy dropped to 21-2-1, with 11 knockouts. Lundy is ranked as the first challenger to the WBC title, held by Antonio De Marco, but this defeat will surely get into trouble and could lose this prestigious position.
