Erdei retires
Former WBO lightheavy and WBC cruiser champ [Zsolt Erdei] have announced his retirement reports Hungarian website monokli.com.
Erdei, 38, goes out undefeated at 33-0 and stopped Byron Mitchell in his last outing. Zsolt was then to fight Isaac Chilemba September 29 but was forced to pulled out with an injury - not for the first time - and have now called it a day.
Erdei was a big star in the amateurs and turned pro with Universum in Germany in 2000. He became WBO lightheavy champ in 2004 with a points win over Julio Gonzales but then was a very lucky man - especially the second time - to get past Argentinian Hugo Hernan Garay twice. Erdei, a class act inside and outside of the ring, never became a big star in Germany and when the contract with Universum expired 2010 Zsolt left for the US and a contract with Di Bella Entertainment but was never able to get a major fight - mainly due to injuries.
