Hamburg-based Russian [Aleksander Alekseev] (pictured), promoted by EC Box Promotion, has been stripped of the EBU cruiser title as he is currently sidelined with an undisclosed medical problem and unable to fight. Alexeev drew with [Firat Arslan] in his last fight - May 11 - and was supposed to fight Agron Dzila September 28 but that was cancelled, also due to Alexander´s health problems that is said to impair movements on the left side of his body but exactly what is wrong have not been diagnosed.

Mandatory challenger is Pole [Mateusz Masternak], promoted by Sauerland, and he will now fight the highest available boxer. This could mean we get to see Masternak against the # 1 contender, [Ola Afolabi], promoted by K 2. # 2 contender is Firat Arslan but he fights WBO king [Marco Huck] November 3. In the # 3 spot we find rising prospect [Rakhim Chakhkiev].

The new champ will have to fight Alekseev inside 90 days of winning the title without the possibility of a voluntary defence.
