by James Blears
It really comes to something when the WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World is humbled starstruck and overawed.
At the WBC's fiftieth Convention in the Grand Oasis Hotel in Cancun, Vitali Klitschko ran the gamet of all of these emotions. A giant of a man, he carefully and tenderly helped his childhood hero arrive on stage and leave stage left, after Muhammad Ali had been crowned King of Boxing.
Every one of the more than 900 deligates from 166 countries around the World cheered and applauded when Vitali turned to Ali and said: "Thank you for being the Champion who made Boxing bigger."
Vitali explained how Ali had inspired him as a youngster to dream the then seemingly impossible dream from behind the Iron Curtain, of one day becoming the heavyweight champions himself. He summed up his emotions by stresseing: "I'm so proud to have the same title as Muhammad Ali did."
Vitali who worked hard to realize his ambiton said:"It is important in life to have a dream!"
