Dutchman Toon Schuurmanns has passed away at the age of 82 in Rotterdam. As a professional Schuurmanns was - along with Jan de Vos - the last Dutchman to fight for the national title over 15 rounds. The two fought a draw and was the sole title fight on Schuurmans ledger 20-6-5 but he mixed in good company taking on the likes of Chris Christensen, Bo Hogberg and Peter Mueller. Toon did well in retirement and could according to the Dutch mr Boxing, Rinze Van Der Meer, been seen training and even sparring as late as three years ago.
