PERSSON’S EURO NEWS AND RESULTS

Euro NewsBy Per-Ake Persson SES of Magdeburg, Germany have an important month coming up in March with a show of their own March 2 in Potsdam headlined by female superfeather star Ramona Kuehne (pictured) defending her bunch - WBO, WIBF and WBFed - of titles against Brazilian Halanna Dos Santos. This is a fight Kuehne is likely to win but it´s a lot tougher in the three events to come.
March 9 in New York former IBF welter king Jan Zaveck, 32-2-1, returns after a long injury layoff and take on unbeaten Keith Thurman, 19-0, in a WBO I/C title fight. It´s tough comeback for Zaveck after almost a year out. He was in training for a fight August 25 last year but was injured and had to have surgery.
On March 16 in London lightheavy Robin Krasniqi is in tough against WBO ruler Nathan Cleverly and it be will regarded as a major upset if Krasniqi pulls off a win.
Finally, March 23, at home in Magdeburg former WBO supermiddle champ Robert Stieglitz gets a rematch with current WBO king Arthur Abraham and while Robert is in with a good chance he is an underdog as Abraham appears to be just a little too strong.
***************************
Lightheavy Orial Kolaj, 10-5, and from Albania but fighting out of Rome, Italy, have relinquished the EU title instead of facing mandatory challenger Pole Dariusz Sek. Kulaj is ranked # 4 with the EBU and is apparently gambling of reaching the status of official contender for champ Juergen Braehmer.
Kolaj will now fight a non-title fight March 15 in Rome while Sek, 17-0-1, who fights this weekend in Gdansk on the big Golata-Saleta show will take on the highest available contender for the vacant EU crown.
