Euro NewsBy Per-Ake Persson  French bantam champ [Yoan Boyeaux], 14-4, tested positive for steroids following his points win over [Karim Guerfi], 18-2, January 15.Boyeaux has been suspended for a year by the French Federation but no word on his status as champ or if the result has been changed to a No Contest. Boyeaux has appealed the suspension.

Former Italian welter champ [Giancarlo Garbelli] (pictured below) has passed away at the age of 81 at Lurago d’Erba. Garbelli mixed in good company throughout his career and lost to Duilio Loi in a EBU title fight at lightweight and drew with Hungarian great Laszlo Papp in Milano in 1960 in a non-title fight. Garbelli turned pro in 1952 and retired in 63 but made a comeback in 72 and was stopped by future world champ Jose Duran. He went out with a total record of 72-14-11.
