Past...Carlos Ortiz
Carlos Ortíz was born in Puerto Rico. When he was very young he moved to New York, where he made his professional debut in boxing against Harry Bell in 1955.
After having built an impressive record, Carlos had the chance of fighting for the world title on April 7, 1963 at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan Puerto Rico, against Doug Vaillant, who he defeated by KO in the 13th round.
He retired from boxing in 1972 after having been defeated by English Ken Buchanan in the only KO defeat he suffered in his career.
Carlos Ortiz fought unforgettable bouts against great fighters including: Flash Elorde, Teo Cruz, Ismael Laguna, Ultiminio Ramos and Joe Brown.
Present...Adrien Broner
Born on July 28, 1989, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Adrien is currently ranked among top 10 boxers in the world by the Ring Magazine.
Adrien built an amazing amateur record of 300-19. He made his professional debut on May 31st, 2008 in Cincinnati where he KO’d Allante Davis.
After having won most of his fights by KO, Adrien earned the chance to fiight for the WBC Lightweight title on November 17th, 2012 against Antonio Demarco at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
In that fight Adrien Broner dominated his rival from the opening bell. In the eighth round, a powerful and pinpoint combination dropped Antonio hard and his corner had the sense and compassion to throw the towel in.
Adrien became the new champion and was named “Revelation of the year” by the WBC.
