Hot Italian summerBy Per-Ake Persson As always professional boxing in Italy heats up during the summer and it´s not because of the sunshine but rather due to the fact that networks have more dates when the soccer / football have closed for the season. Below is a rundown of the most important fights.
June 14, Rome:
Roberto Cocco makes a mandatory defence of the national title against Massimiliano Buccheri. Lightheavy Orial Kulaj stay busy on the undercard.
June 15, Fratta Terme:
Mirko Larghetti vs Vincenzo Rossitto clash for the vacant EU cruiser title with female flies Simona Galassi and Sanae Jah fight for the vacant EBU flyweight title in the co-feature.
June 21, Milano:
Superwelter Renato De Donato makes a mandatory defence of the national title against Andrea Scarpa.
June 22, Rome:
Giovanni De Carolis and Hadillah Mohoumadi fight for the vacant EU supermiddle title. Welter Daniele Petrucci is featured on the undercard.
June 28, site to be announced:
Italian welter champ Gianluca Frezza defends the title against Luciano Abis in a mandatory defence.
June 29, Arezzo:
Orlando Fiordigiglio and Giuseppe Langella clash for the vacant EU superwelter title. Cruisers Salvatore Erittu take on Maurizio Lovaglio on the undercard.
July 5, site to be announced:
Superfeather Antonio De Vitis take on Nikola Cipolletta for the vacant national title.
July 6, Civitavecchia:
Almost ageless veteran Silvio Branco take on Finn Juho Haapoja for the vacant WBC Silver cruiser title. Younger brother Gianluca is featured on the undercard.
July 12, Avezzano:
Stefano Castellucci square off against Ceferino Rodriguez a/k/a Ferino V for the vacant EU welter title.
July 13, Reggio Calabria:
Cruisers Francesco Versace and Leonard Damian Bruzzese clash for the vacant Italian crown.
July 19, Prato:
Superwelters, Francesco Di Fiore take on Riccardo Lecca with the vacant national title at stake.
July 20, Guidonia:
National lightweight ruler Pasquale Di Silvio makes a voluntary defence against Manuel Lancia.
July 26, site to be announced:
