Patrick Nielsen, 19-0, retained the WBA I/C title with an easy fourth round knockout over overmatched Argentinian Crispulo Javier Andino, 16-6-1. Andino, like Nielsen a southpaw, showed nothing and it was pretty much target practice for Nielsen who scored well to the body with heavy left handers. Andino was a beaten man by the third and caved in during the fourth going down twice from bodyshots with referee Terry O´Conner counting ten and out after the second knockdown.

 

Unheralded underdog Arman Torosyan, 9-0-1, stopped local hero Reda Zam Zam, 27-3, 1.37 into the seventh flooring him three times in the rounds. Zam Zam was after six ahead by scores of 59-55 and 59-54 with a third card at 57-57. But Zam Zam was fading and again his chin and lack of punch resistance let him down. Referee Soren Saugmann gave Reda every chance to recover, including replacing the mouthpiece after the second knockdown when it should have been stopped, but the Danish veteran had nothing left and was floored a third time as well with no legs under him. It was scheduled for ten.

Working Torosyan´s corner was former IBF middleweight champ Sebastian Sylvester assisted by Karsten Rover.

 

Superfeather Dennis Ceylan, 5-0, won on points after six against veteran Bulgarian survivor Yordan Vasilev, 13-29-2, over six. Vasilev was outboxed, outclassed and down late in the third but was there to hear the final bell. It was scored 60-53 on all cards in this, the final bout of the evening.

 

The third Swede on the bill, lightheavy Erik Skoglund moved to 17-0 with an eight round unanimous decision over experienced and tricky Italian Lorenzo Di Giacomo, 41-8-1. Di Giacomo was quite a force at middle but at lightheavy and late in his career he´s more of a solid opponent for up and coming fighters like Skoglund. It was scored 80-72 on all cards. Skoglund said afterwards he hurt a finger in the right hand with the first punch he threw in the punch and believed it could be broken.

 

Danish jr middle Torben Keller, 8-0-1, won a eight round unanimous decision over German Michael Schubov, 13-8. The three judges all had it 80-72 for Keller. Schubov had his moments though in an uneventful fight with few highlights.

 

Cruiser Micki Nielsen, trained by Joey Gamache and now 9-0, stopped outclassed German Marko Angermann, 11-18-1, at 2.38 of the second of a scheduled six-rounder of a poor matchup. Angermann, too small for cruiser, was badly cut and floored by a southpaw left to the body when the towel came in to end the fight.

 

Norwegian lightheavy Simen Smaadal, 6-0, outscored Artem Solomko from Belorus over six. It was scored 59-55 twice and 58-56 for Smaadal, who had some problems with his opponent early on. Solomko, 11-23-1, showed bad punch resistance though and was rattled whenever caught.

 

Talented Swedish welter Anthony Yigit, 4-0, outscored and outclassed Czech trialhorse Jan Balog, 4-15-1, over four in an all-southpaw clash. It was scored 40-36 on all caby stopping rds.

 

Swedish heavy Otto Wallin made his prodebut Ukrainan Roman Cherney, 1-1, at 2.57 of the first of a scheduled four-rounder. Wallin, a southpaw, hurt his rather inept opponent with right-left combinations and kept punching until it was stopped. Cherney was never off his feet but took a beating.

 

Danish jr welter Rashid Kassem, 2-0, outscored experienced Belorus journeyman Andrei Staliarchuk over six but as hard as he tried he could never get his opponent in any kind of trouble. Staliarchuk, a good survivor, lost on scores of 60-53, 60-54 and 59-55.

SPAG´s (Sauerland Promotion AG) show at the NRGi Arena began with an all Danish matchup at cruiser between Peter Gram and Shahriyar Wiessi, both 1-0, coming in. Wiessi, the better boxer, appeared to be heading for win after an exciting, hardfought fight when he nailed Gram in the fourth and final round with two good right handers but then Gram clipped Wiessi with a short right and Wiessi went down in what looked as a flash knockdown. The rejuvenated Gram opened up and scored with another right and this Shahriyar went down hard and it was stopped at 2.11.
