Euro NewsBy Per-Ake Persson EC Box Promotion returns as previously reported to Galati, Romania, August 23 for a show that will be televised in Europe on EuroSport.
Heavyweight Christian Hammer, 13-3, headlines and take on big Norwegian Leif Larsen, 17-1, in a defence of the WBO Euro title.
In the chief support middleweight Goekalp Oezekler, 15-1, is in against undefeated Hungarian Istvan Szili, 17-0. Switzerland-based cruiser Nuri Seferi, 33-6, face American Garrett Wilson, 13-6-1.
Romanian Guilian Ilie, 19-6-2, looked chunky even at lightheavy but steps up to heavyweight and face no other than Danny Williams, who despite numerous retirement announcements, is back again. Williams is 44-17.

"Golden" Jack Culcay, 14-1, will face Guido Nicolas Pitto, 18-1, in a rematch September 14 in Stuttgart on the Huck vs Arslan II bill. Culcay lost the first fight on a close, disputed decision where many ringsiders felt he had done enough to nick it. Jack, for this fight trained by Fritz Sdunek, did however a fair share of posing and that probably cost him the decision. The WBA I/C title is at stake and a second loss for Culcay will put him back a long way.

Sauerland Event won purse bids to stage the fight for the EU lightheavyweight title between Erik Skoglund and Lolenga Mock July 19. On July 26 it was announced by the EBU to its members that the fight would go ahead October 19 in Denmark. However, to this day no contracts have been signed and it must also be noticed that October 19 is well outside of the 60 days from purse bid date the rules stipulate that the fight must be staged. Another interesting note is that Sauerland bid through its German company Sauerland Event and not through the Swiss company Sauerland Promotions AG that normally handle business in Denmark.

Babilon Promotions stage its annual show in the summer resort of Miedzyzdroje, Poland, August 18. Headlining is welter Patryk Szymansky, 7-0, who is based in the US and promoted by Global Boxing. Szymansky take on Hungarian Mate Hornyak, 9-0-1, for the WBO Youth title. The chief support is an interesting clash at feather between former Olympian Lukasz Maszczyk, 4-0, and the more experienced Krysztof Cieslak, 19-5. Cieslak seemed as a solid prospect when he turned pro with Arena in Germany but is 5-5 since 2010.
