12/09/2013 - 19.05.47
Jeff Horn Destroys Colomban on Route to Australian Title VictoryAUS - BOXING 2012 London Olympian, Jeff Horn took a huge step forward in his pro career knocking out former Commonwealth title challenger, Samuel Colomban at 1:18 of round one, claiming the vacant Australian Welterweight title. Horn in just his fifth professional bout started off on the front foot before catching Colomban as he dropped his left hand, knocking him out cold with a flush right hand.
“I’m just shocked to be honest,” Horn said. “I thought we’d go the ten rounds, but I’m just really happy with the result. It’s one we train in the gym every day and I landed it perfectly.”
Horn came into the fight having had his fight cut short last month against Rivan Cessaire after the pair clashed heads opening a bad cut over his opponents eye, but the part time school teacher was able to regroup back in the gym and come out to put on the performance of his carer.
“It was a tricky fight, Rivan was hard to hit. It was unfortunate to have that cut at the end. It was really disheartening because all the training we get into.”
“I feel like I’ve fought the best in the world in the amateurs,” Horn continued. “I feel that my style has always been suited to the pros, and I hope it can take me the whole way and become world champion.
