Euro NewsBy Per-Ake Persson EBU superlightweight champ Michele Di Rocco, 35-1-1, will make a voluntary defence of the title against Ville Piispanen, 17-3-3, December 21 in Brindisi (Italy). Piispanen was also mandatory challenger for the EBU-EU title with a fight against titleholder Ruben Nieto in sight but that is off now. Ville is up against it as Di Rocco have beaten the likes of Lenny Daws and Giusppe Lauri, both fighters who the Finn have lost to.

Sauerland Event have signed up British heavyweight David Price, formerly with Frank Maloney. Price comes in off two back to back losses to Tony Thompson but it appears he can be resurrected and there many lucrative fights on the British isles alone.

36-year old cruiser Kai Kurzawa, 31-4 and at one time signed with Sauerland, face Dennis Ronert, 19-0, December 6 in Frankfurt / Oder in a classic veteran vs youth matchup. Kurzawa have since his days with Sauerland been with the EC team in Hamburg and was for a brief spell also trainer with the SES stable in Magdeburg but decided to make another comeback this summer. At stake against Ronert is the German title. The 21-year old Ronert is relatively untested. In the co-headliner of this SES promotion heavyweight Fransesco Pianeta face Robert Teuber in another national titlefight.
