Akira Yaegashi successfully retains his WBC title

Akira Yaegashi defeated Mexican Edgar Sosa to successfully retain his WBC flyweight title on home turf in Tokyo, Japan.
 
 
Akira Yaegashi (19-3, 9 KOs) used his great boxing skills to defeat a very determined Edgar Sosa (49-8, 29 KOs), who showed the great heart of a champion, but it was not quite enough.
Fully aware of Edgar's stunning power and crunching body shots, Akira elected to pick his punches and move in order to avoid being clouted.
As the fight wore into it's tail end approached, the exchanges of punches began to heat up and carry more weight than sting, thrilling the fans. At the end of the 12 rounds Yaegashi was up in the cards and retained his title. No knock downs. neither fighter courted serious trouble and the pace remained brisk. Great fight.
