Ceremonies will take place in Howard Beach, N.Y. at the Russo-on-the-Bay Hotel on March 30.

Prospero, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., is a retired history instructor who taught at Trident Technical College in North Charleston.

When he was 10, his father gave him a 16mm projector and a film of the Joe Lewis-Two Ton Tony Galento Fight and he became hooked on boxing. When he was 18, he began viewing fights all over Western and Central New York State.

After graduating from Canisius College in Buffalo with a bachelor and master degrees, and army service during the Korean Conflict, Prospero began a journey that took him all over the U.S. and Canada covering fights for various periodicals including Ring Magazine (The Bible of Boxing), Boxing Illustrated, Boxing Digest, South African Boxing World, Ringsports and Boxing World Magazine.

In addition to fight reports, he specialized in boxing biographies and the history of boxing. Prospero is the author of the book Great Fights and Fighters.

He was the first historian of the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, N.Y. and has been the Ring 44 Boxing Club Historian for more than 30 years.

Some of the more memorable fights he has covered at ringside are Ali-Frazier I, Ali-Norton, Foreman-Frazier II, Hearns-Hagler, Hearns-Leonard I, Ali-Jimmy Young and Larry Holmes-Ken Norton.

Prospero and his wife Terry retired to Summerville and their daughters Suzanne and Andrea live nearby.

However, he continues to churn out monthly boxing columns.
