Euro NewsBy Per-Ake Persson Italian great Carmelo Bossi has passed away at the age of 74 in Milano after a long battle with penumonia. Bossi won a silver in the 1959 European championships and 1960 Olympics fighting at welter and then turned pro in 1961. He won the national title at welter in 1965, then the EBU crown in 1967 and became world champion in 1970 losing the title in 1971 and went out with a record of 40-8-3. Carmelo Bossi against Freddie Little Bossi was around in what was an exellent era for Italian and European boxing fighting the likes of Jean Josselin, Johann Orsolics, Angel Robinson Garcia, Fighting Mack, Fred Little and Koichi Wajima.
