Amir Khan beats Luis Collazo with unanimous points decision
Fight report: Britain's Amir Khan calls on Floyd Mayweather to fight him after defeating Luis Collazo in style at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Amir Khan won a landslide 12 rounds unanimous points decision over awkward southpaw Luis Collazo here at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and immediately called on Floyd Mayweather to meet him next.
This was a fine performance after a 12 month absence, and will have caught the eye of Mayweather.
Khan was on the move for almost the entire contest popping out fast jabs and combinations, weathering one sustained attack from Collazo in the middle rounds to earn a deserved 117-106, 119-104 twice victory.
Both men were deducted a point, Collazo for a low blow, Khan for holding, and the Puerto-Rican American was down three times in the fight.
Clearly, Khan's time in the gym with Virgil Hunter has paid off. He moved well, was savvy by clinching and looked in great condition. He is also now aware that his power does not carry as much weight, literally, at 10st 7lbs. But he hurt Collazo - properly hurt him - with a great body shot.
After thrusting both arms into the air on the final bell, Khan declared: "Floyd should fight me next. Definitely. He's fighting Marcos Maidana, who is a great fighter but I've already beaten him. I really think I have the style to give Floyd problems.
"It was tough because Collazo was very awkward, but we pulled it together and came out with the win.
"It was a tough fight to debut at 147 pounds after a 13-month lay-off. Not many fighters would take a fight like this.
"I've got a lot of respect for him, he's one of those guys who makes everyone look bad but I'm lucky to have had a great performance against him.
"I knew it was going to be a war, it was going to be a hard, tough fight. I'm glad it's over and now we're going to move onto bigger and better things."
"People now want to see a fight between me and Floyd.
"Floyd hasn't seen speed. He's fighting people with explosive power. But styles make fights and I think my style will give him a lot of trouble.
"Floyd looks beatable. He's getting a little older now and that's why a lot of people want the fight now because they want a young lion to come up and they want to see him get beat. I think the only person who has the chance to do that is me."

Amir Khan dominates Luis Collazo, solidifies candidacy for Floyd Mayweather fight

LAS VEGAS -- Amir Khan's fitness for a Floyd Mayweather fight has been often debated, but his victory over Luis Collazo on Saturday at MGM Grand might have stamped his ticket if he finds a way to secure the fight later this year or in 2015.

Khan beat Collazo via 12-round unanimous decision in a welterweight bout at MGM Grand, in the primary supporting bout on the Mayweather-Marcos Maidana undercard.
Khan (29-3) beat Collazo (35-6) by scores of 119-104 twice (Adelaide Byrd and Cathy Leonard) and 117-106 (Jerry Roth).
Collazo, of New York, was down in the fourth round, and twice more in the 10th. Both fighters had a point deducted in the eighth round for low blows.
Khan, of Bolton, Lancashire, United Kingdom, has positioned himself to possibly fight Mayweather before, only to botch it, most notably in a 2012 knockout loss to Danny Garcia.
Garcia, who remains undefeated, also is a potential Mayweather foe, but Khan stepped closer to the front of the line -- if he wants it.
Mayweather hopes to fight in September but Khan has said he can't take a mid-September fight because of the Islamic observance of Ramadan, which ends about July 27 or 28 this year. Khan said he would be too weakened by the month of dietary restrictions to train properly.
Also on the undercard, Adrien Broner (28-1) whose loss to Maidana in December solidified the latter as Mayweather's main-event foe, bounced back from that first defeat with a unanimous-decision win over Carlos Molina (17-2-1) in a 10-round super welterweight bout.
Levi Martinez scored it 100-90, Patricia Morse Jarman 98-92, and Ricardo Ocasio 99-91.
