The IBF will hold purse bids for Wladimir Klitschko’s long overdue defence of the IBF title against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev June 17.

 

All in all - given the IBF tournament that never got off the ground - Pulev have been waiting for his chance for close to two years now.

 

Purse split is 80-20 in favor of the champion.

 

 

Former WBO interim and EBU superwelter champion Lukas Konecny (50-5) have retired after 25 years of boxing. Lukas is 35 and also says he have some minor problems with his eyes. Konecny’s last fight was a fight against WBO middleweight titleholder Peter Quillin and Konecny lost on points.

 

Lukas (pictured) resides in Usti nad Labem (Czech Republic) and promotes shows in his hometown where Czech journeymen gets a rare chance to win.

 

There were also attempts made to get Danny Williams a few wins under his belt before his farewell fight in July in Frankfurt am Main. It all went well May 24 when Williams stopped Martin Stensky (1-32) in the first but this past weekend Frantisek Kynkal (4-4) scored an upset win over Danny.

 

 

Arena Box Cluj, headed by Aurelian Panc, promotes a show June 21 in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) headed by local welterweight Florin Cardos (12-0) who take on Serbian Bogdan Mitic (19-5) for the CIS and Slovenian Boxing Bureau (one of the oldest sub titles around and since a few years affiliated with the WBC) title. The show is supervised by the Serbian Federation as it is claimed that the Romanian Federation (the EBU member) have joined AIBA’s proboxing project.

 

 

On June 4 the EBU sent out a statement that if Johan Duhaupas, reigning EU heavyweight champion, did not return a signed contract for his defence against Erkan Teper June 13 in Munich (Germany) within the day he would be stripped of the title. Duhaupas and his team apparently communicated with the EBU office in Rome and Duhaupas vs Teper is still on amidst rumors that the champion will pull out for one reason or another.
