Following the filming of a promotional video for the CALL OF DUTY event outside Buckingham Paace, Mr. Batra spoke briefly about the upcoming event.
“I’m very excited and looking forward to this Saturday’s event.
I’m not sure if it is true, but I have been told that I am the first Indian promoter of a professional boxing event in the UK.
I’d be keen to bring fights like these to Asia as well, hopefully the broadcasting of the event by Boxing Evolution may get some interest over there, it will go a long way towards that goal.
Boxing the way it is now in the UK is not like it was in the past, when there were champions like Lennox Lewis, Prince Naseem and the like, we just don’t seem to have champions like that here anymore, it’s split apart everywhere.
We need big names again, hopefully over the coming years we’ll develop those big names, we already have some very, very good fighters on our show, one or two, or even more of them could well become the Lennox or Naz of the future, they’re all that good.
I think if we can make a change, it would be a very good thing, not just for the sport but for the fans.
Just look at the line up we have on Saturday, Mark Prince has lost just one of the twenty two fights, and that was to one of the greatest World Champions the Light Heavyweight division has ever known, Dariusz Michalczewski.
On Saturday I see Mark winning, quite rapidly. Mark is very dedicated, so exciting to watch and I know he is keen to put himself on the map again, he is without doubt World class and a true contender.
His opponent on Saturday is a strong opponent, it is a good match, but honestly I can only see Mark winning the MBC title.
George Hillyard, who is main support, is another one of them, as I’m sure everyone is aware George has started making his comeback, after four years out.
I see George as a future champion, he’s fit and strong, he’s really determined to do things right this time around and I believe him.
His opponent Tommy Tolan is a great opponent for him to come back into the ring and showcase his talent.
I hope and pray that George wins so we can move his career to the next level.
It’s a big disappointment that Antonio Counihan is injured, he’s such a fantastic prospect, unfortunately it is what it is injuries are part and parcel of the boxing game, break a hand or tear a hamstring that’s the way it goes sometimes.
He’d sold out his ticket allocation and would have been bringing a huge contingent down from Birmingham, no worries we’ll have him on our next show.
That aside we still have some real talent on show this Saturday, like American Manny Muhammad, he’s fresh in the industry like me and I think he is going to be a real prospect, as is Nathan Decastro, he is another one that is destined to be a world star.
All the undercard fights are going to be so watchable, genuine fifty-fifty fights everyone of them, there’s no guaranteed winners, that’s the way it should be, not all this fighters being drip fed guaranteed wins.
True champions of the past fought fifty-fifty fights, they fought the best around, that’s what the fans want, they want to see real fights.
I have to admit I think the undercard is going to be where the real excitement is going to be, as I am sure Mark will win his fight, in all honesty I don’t think it would have mattered who we have him fight, even those in the top five, he would win.
Mark’s fight is going to be great, it’s the undercard that is special in my mind, we have some serious new talent ready to burst out and make their mark.
It’s going to be a great night of boxing, a don’t miss show for sure, if you can’t make it to York Hall on the night, then you can watch it on Boxing Evolution.”
