Sep 10, Wuppertal, GER, Uni-Halle, AGON Sports, bdb Vincenzo Gualtieri, 72,4, Wuppertal, Ger W12-U Vincenzo Bivelacqua, 72,4, Rome, Ita Gualtieri retained the IBF I-C middleweight title on scores of 118-110 twice and 116-112 in a fight that never took off. Gualtieri, a switchhitter, outboxed his opponent but posed a lot while Bivelacqua kept his hands high but didn´t do much and it made for a dull fight with no highlights. Björn Schicke, 72,3, Berlin, Ger W12-U Marten Arsumanjan, 72,3, Stein, Ger Schicke won the EU title on scores of 115-112 on all cards. Schicke was hurt in the third but never went down and floored Arsumanjan in the fifth with a right. It was a tough, fastpaced, exciting fight but not pretty as the two battled it out. Arsumanjan likes to fight with his hands down and a big smile on his face but Schicke kept his cool and stuck to his battle plan for a deserved win - and thanks for the money Björn! Haro Matevosyan, 69,2, Berlin, Ger W12-U Jhony Montano, 69,7, Mexico City, Mex Matevosyan, a southpaw, retained the IBF I-C title on scores of 118-110 twice and 116-112. Montano threw big hooks and lots of them but few landed and Matevosyan showed good defensive skills but lacked punching power and could never hurt Montano. Granit Shala, 120,5, Landshut, Ger W8-U Kevin Espindola, 121,7, Buenos Aires, Arg 80-72 on all cards. Two big men, slow pace and Espindola kept smiling and nodding with every punch that landed. He looked dangerous throughout but if he was we will never find out because he never opened up. Shala was very careful though not to get caught by anything. 8x3: Jose Luis Navarro Gomez, 75,6, Madrid, Spa TKO 2 (2.26) Dimitar Tilev, 75,7, Bielefeld, Ger After a tense first Navarro nailed Tilev with a left hook and he went down. He got up but was wobbly and his right eye was swollen and bleeding. As Navarro was about to pour it on the towel came in. Tilev protested but looked like a beaten man. Nathanael Lukoki, 66,0, Erftstadt, Ger W6-U Luca Maccaroni, 66,6, Ita 60-54 on all cards. Maccaroni, much shorter and a southpaw, was outboxed by the slick Lukoki but kept coming. Mateo Veron, 72,2, Buenos Aires, Arg D8-S Thomas Piccirillo, 72,1, Cologne, Ger 77-76 Veron and 76-76 twice. Veron smothered Piccirillo as he kept coming and scored with enough counters for a close win on my card. Piccirillo likes to fight on the insided but never found the range. Alexander Müller von Berge, 108,7, Berlin, Ger W6-U Alfonso Damiani, 102,3, Rome, Ita 59-54 on all cards. Damiani was floored by a left hook to the head in the first but lasted the distance and kept trying throughout. 12x3: Jama Saidi, Ger vs Abass Barou, Ger This fight for the vacant EBU super welter was cancelled at an early stage when Saidi failed his medical due to a heart condition. Vincent Feigenbutz
