EURO NEWSBy Per-Ake Persson Former IBF champ Kiko Martinez (32-5) has been named official Challenger for EBU bantamweight ruler Lee Haskins (31-3). There is now a period of private negotiations but if no agreement is reached the EBU will call for purse bids. Martinez lost the IBF superbantam title in September of last year to Carl Frampton but bounced back with a win in December over George Gacheiladze and is now dropping down to 118. Haskins won the title this past February with a technical decision over Omar Lamiri. **************************** EBU feather champ Josh Warrington (20-0) will defend the title against mandatory challenger Alex Miskirtchian (25-3-1) on Matchroom’s big show at the O2 Arena in London. Miskirtchian fought for the IBF title last year but lost and then took some time off to regroup and returned in March of this year with a points win over Michael Escobar. **************************** German lightheavy Denis Liebau (15-0, 14) take on Hungarian Janos Olah (15-17-1) with the vacant IBA Int’l title at stake in the headliner of PSP Boxteam’s show in Bad Villbel - Dortelwell (just North of Frankfurt am Main) April 10. IBA World cruiser king Mairis Briedis (14-0) is featured in the chief support and square off against Bjoern Blaschke (9-5-1) in a non-title six-rounder while heavyweight Evgenios Lazarides (6-0) face Croatian veteran Ivica Perkovic (21-26). The main fights go out live on EuroSport. **************************** The IBF, German boxing and especially the German Boxing Association, the GBA, has been hit with major scandal but what is what remains an open question. The story broke at the Cagri Ermis vs Juergen Doberstein fight in Berlin February 27. Ermis won a close decision and Doberstein and his team were totally unhappy with how things had gone and at the “dopingtests” they got suspicious and checked with NADA (the German anti doping agency), who replied they had never done any dopingtests at any GBA sanctioned event. To make it worse the fighters tested were charged with 1000 Euro for each “test”. The tests were made but not with NADA participating at a cost of a claimed 150 Euro which means someone collected 850 Euro. All fingers are pointed at Eva Rolle, a promoter licensed by the GBA. But ms Rolle has fired back and declared her innocence and states in a comment that the 1000 Euro covered the cost for physicians at ringside as well as ambulance. Ermis vs Doberstein was for the IBF East/West and IBF Mediterranean supermiddle titles and the IBF will for now no longer sanction titlefights with GBA as supervising body and have also broken ties with ms Rolle, who organized the IBF Convention in Berlin 2013. The GBA has suspended Eva Rolle, who co-promoted the Berlin show with her son Robert. There is probably more to come but all are waiting for return of GBA President Jorg Mielcke, who is on vacation, for an explantion on the GBA role in this. **************************** Lightheavyweight Karo Murat (26-2-1) has been added to Sauerland Event’s show at the Columbiahalle in Berlin April 25 and will face fellow-Berliner Benjamin Simon (25-1). Murat is now promoted by EC Boxing but was with Sauerland Event all the way until the end of 2013. He was to have headlined EC`s show in Berlin March 6 but had to pull out due to injury. The show is headlined by 16-0 supermiddle Tyron Zeuge, who will defend the IBF Int’l title. Mateusz Masternak, Noel Gevor, Enrico Koelling and Burat Sahin make up the rest of the bill. Krasniqi had the punch the get to the champion but didn´t have the chin and that made the difference, Everytime Brähmer connected with his southpaw left Krasniqi was staggered. After nine it was scored 87-83 twice and 88-82 - it would have been more even had Robin had a stronger beard in what was an exciting fight where both scored well. 12x3: Vincent Feigenbutz, 75,5, Ger TKO 9 (0.51) Balasz Kelemen, 75,6, Hun Feigenbutz retained the WBO and GBU I/C titles. Kelemen, a tall supermiddle, did well at rong range with Feigenbutz, increasingly frustrated, stalked him but missed with with his big hooks. After eight it was scored 78-74 twice and 77-75 for Feigenbutz which looked harsh on Kelemen. I had it 77-75 for the Hungarian . In the ninth Feigenbutz hurt Kelemen with a left hook and only the ropes held up the Hungarian but no count was issued. Instead Feigenbutz jumped on his hurt opponent and fired away which forced a correct stoppage - but if given a count Kelemen might have "survived". 10x3: Dennis Boytsov, 97,2, Rus/Ger TKO 3 (0.01) Irineu Beato Costa Jr, 121,5, Bra Costa was staggered by a double left hook in the second and retired with a claimed injured hand or arm and again showed nothing. Boytsov is now trained by Ulli Wegner but looked pretty much the same. 10x3: Anthony "Can You Dig It" Yigit, 65,0, Swe W10-U Timo Schwarzkopf, 65,0, Ger 97-93 twice and 96-93 over ten fastpaced good rounds. Yigit, a southpaw, scored well and outboxed the stronger Schwarzkopf. Agron Dzila, 88,5, Swi W12-U Bernard Adie, 89,0, Ken Dzila won the vacant GBU title on scores of 116-110, 117-110 and 117-109 after a wild and sloppy fight. Dzila had the punch but not the conditioning while Adie was in shape but didn´t have the chin or skills to turn things around. Adie was down in the third and hurt for real in the tenth and sat down for another eight count. Inbetween he scored almost at will with right upercuts and staggered Dzila but couldn´hurt him and that made the difference. I had it 115-112 for Dzila. 6x3: Stefan Härtel, 76,7, Ger W6-U Volodmyr Borovskyy, 75,0, Ukr 60-54 on all cards. Härtel shows talent but lacks power and got nowhere with a veteran like Borovskyy. 6x3: Ohara Davies, 62,0, Uk W6-U Jacek Wylezol, 62,1 Pol 60-54 on all cards. Oneway.
